Bentley Falls to Queens (NY) 2-1 Despite Levine’s Goal

QUEENS, N.Y. – Senior Evan Levine (Boca Raton, Fla./Olympic Heights) scored in the 74th minute, but the Bentley men's soccer team fell to Queens (NY) on the road 2-1 on Saturday night.

The teams played a scoreless first 55 minutes. Once the match went into the 57th minute, the teams combined for three goals in a 17-minute span.

Queens got the match's first goal off the foot of forward Leo Pinto, with a shot from 19 yards out that curved into the top right corner.

14 minutes later the Knights made it 2-0 when Adolfo Martinez scored from long range with a shot to the low left corner of the net in the 72nd minute.

Less than two minutes later though Levine cut into Queens' lead with his first career goal. Freshman Luke Mollenhauer (Burlington, Mass./Lexington Christian) won the ball in midfield with a tackle and fed a short pass to Levine.

Levine then galloped in on net and fired off a low shot from about 22 yards to the bottom left corner to make it a 2-1 game.

Bentley had one final chance late in the match to tie. After gaining possession in the defensive end, they worked the ball down the field and a pass to Lukas Drahos (Melrose, Mass./Mystic Valley) led to a difficult volleyed shot from about 18 yards, but Knights keeper Dario Cruz was equal to the task and made the save.

The Falcons (0-1-1) will next be in action on Wednesday night when they face Assumption on the road in a non-conference match.
