Bentley Defeats Holy Family 3-1 Behind Goals from Walker and Mote

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Graduate students TJ Walker (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) and Connor Mote (Lisle, Ill./Benet) supplied the goals as the Bentley University men's soccer team earned a 3-1 road win over Holy Family on Saturday afternoon.

Walker, a transfer from Loyola University in Maryland, scored the first two goals of the game just nine minutes apart. He scored in the 11th minute to give Bentley a 1-0 lead after he capitalized off a Holy Family turnover in midfield and scored with a shot that beat the keeper to his left.

Just under nine minutes later he notched his second of the match to double Bentley's lead at 2-0.

The two goal lead for Bentley lasted just over three minutes as Holy Family's Georg Montag scored on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.

But that was as close as Holy Family could get the rest of the game.

Bentley was awarded a penalty kick in the 41st minute after a yellow card on Holy Family's Mark Tobin. Mote stepped up to take the kick and converted it to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead.

Neither team scored in the 2nd half, as the Falcons secured the win to ensure they returned to Waltham with a split of their opening weekend games.

Graduate student goalkeeper Markus Foehr (Kailia, Hawaii) made three saves to earn the win for the Falcons.

Bentley's next game is scheduled for next Saturday. That will be the team's home opener, against Queens (NY) at 12:00 pm.
