Bentley Men’s Soccer Gets Season Started Thursday at Wilmington University

For the first time in nearly two years, the Bentley University men's soccer team will take to the pitch on Thursday afternoon when they take on Wilmington University for the first game of the 2021 season.

After the 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic, the Falcons are prepared to get the season going with a pair of road games. They first take on Wilmington, followed by Holy Family on Saturday, both members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

The Falcons are captained this year by graduate student Connor Mote and senior Ronan Fitzpatrick. Mote was second on the team in points back in 2019 with 17 (7 goals, 3 assists) and was named second team All-Conference.

Fitzpatrick will help anchor the midfield, while the back line is led by senior center back Hunter Marshall, who was voted third team All-Conference in 2019.

Head coach Gary Crompton, who has led Bentley to the NE10 Playoffs nine times in 12 seasons, welcomes in two graduate transfers in center back Nico Ruiz and midfielder TJ Walker. Ruiz transferred from Southern Connecticut and is a two-time NE10 All-Conference selection, and Walker came in from Division I Loyola Maryland.

After the road trip to begin the season, the Falcons are set to pay their home opener on Saturday, Sept. 11 against Queens (NY). Another non-conference game against Assumption follows on Sept. 14, before the NE10 campaign gets started on Sept. 18 at Saint Anselm.
