Morra Scores, but Bentley Tripped Up by Caldwell 2-1

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Senior captain Eric Morra (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) scored a 14th minute goal, but Caldwell rallied with two straight goals in a 2-1 victory over the Bentley University men's soccer team on Sunday.

Morra gave the Falcons an early lead, with an assist by junior Julian Stewart (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro), his second of the weekend. Stewart dribbled around Caldwell keeper Nils Svere to create an opening, and his pass found Morra to knock it into the back of the net for a 1-0 Bentley lead.

Caldwell though found the tying goal just after halftime, in the 49th minute from senior Joaquin Escudero, who was on the receiving end of a pass from Patrick Grey, after he jumped on a loose ball.

Grey then put Caldwell in front with a goal of his own in the 67th minute, after he headed in a corner kick.

Bentley had a couple of shots on goal the rest of the way from Dan Anderson (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) and Chris Caso (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon), but were denied the equalizer both times by Svere.

The Falcons will now prepare for their home opener, which is Saturday against New York Tech in a non-conference game at 1:00 pm.
