Men’s Soccer Battles So. New Hampshire in NE-10 Playoffs Tonight

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's soccer team will take on top seed Southern New Hampshire in the Northeast-10 Championship semifinals tonight at 7:00 pm in Manchester, N.H. The winner will go on to Sunday's final at 1:00 pm. The match can be seen live and for free on snhupenmen.tv

Bentley (10-6-1) got to this point by finishing 4th in the regular season, its best finish since 2012, and by scoring a 3-2 win over Southern Connecticut in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Midfielder Nick Hoffman (East Brookfield, Mass./Quabbin) was the star man, with goals in the 67th and 69th minutes after Bentley had fallen behind 1-0. Hoffman then assisted on Scott Levy's (Canton, Mass./Canton) goal in the 76th minute, which turned out to be the match winner.

The Penmen cruised to NE-10 regular season title with a 12-1 record (16-1 overall) and are currently ranked No. 3 in Division II by the NSCAA. They defeated Saint Michael's 3-0 in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Southern also boasts the NE-10's Player of the Year Sofiane Tergou, Defensive Player of the Year Dominic Samuel and Goalkeeper of the Year Nick Zucco.

The last time these two programs met in the postseason, Southern took a 2-1 victory in the 2011 quarterfinals.

The other semifinal matchup tonight pits No. 2 Merrimack hosting No. 3 seed Adelphi. The winner of the two matches will meet in the final on Sunday, which is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the highest remaining seed.
