Crompton Voted Coach of the Year; Hoffman, Levy & E. Ryan Named All-Conference

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University head men's soccer coach Gary Crompton was voted the Northeast-10 Coach of the Year, and three of his players, seniors Nick Hoffman (East Brookfield, Mass./Quabbin) and Scott Levy (Canton, Mass./Canton) and freshman Evan Ryan (Cornwall, Vt./Middlebury Union) were named All-Conference.

The All-Conference teams and major awards are voted on by the NE-10's 14 head coaches and are based on the regular season.

Crompton led the Falcons to a top-four finish in the highly competitive NE-10 for the third time in his tenure at Bentley, and to the conference playoffs for the 7th time in eight seasons. The team was predicted to finish 8th in the Preseason Coaches' Poll and beat that expectation by four spots in the standings.

It's the first time in his career he's been named Coach of the Year.

Hoffman finished the regular season leading the team in points with 16 (6g, 4a), which was in the top-10 of the conference. He had the winning goals in consecutive regular season victories over Le Moyne (Oct. 10) and Southern Connecticut (Oct. 13), and had both goals in a come from behind 2-2 tie with Franklin Pierce (Oct. 21).

Levy was tied for the team lead in assists with 6, while adding 3 goals for 12 points. All three of his regular season goals came in wins; vs. Stonehill (Sept. 26) at Saint Rose (Oct. 3) and vs. Southern Connecticut (Oct. 13). He also had a season high two assists in the victory over Le Moyne.

It's the third straight season Levy has been named All-Conference after he earned 1st team honors as a sophomore and 3rd team honors as a junior.

Ryan played in all 16 matches as a freshman with three starts, and contributed two goals. He scored in a 3-1 win over Caldwell (Sept. 6) and in the 2-0 win at Saint Rose.

After Tuesday's 3-2 victory over Southern Connecticut in the NE-10 quarterfinals, Bentley is set to take on top seed Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals on Friday night at 7:00 pm.
