Zeiner Named Finalist for Northeast-10 Man of the Year Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University men's soccer player Weston Zeiner (North Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) has been named one of three finalists 2012-13 Northeast-10 Man of the Year Award, the conference announced Tuesday.

Zeiner recently graduated from Bentley with a degree in accountancy after a standout four-year career for the Falcons under head coach Gary Crompton. In the inaugural year for the award, the other two finalists are Saint Michael's Chris Moskal (men's tennis) and Stonehill's Dana Borges (hockey).

The Falcons' team captain for the past two seasons, Zeiner has received a multitude of awards after his senior season for his stellar performances both on the pitch and in the classroom and community. A center-back, he was named the NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year and third team All-America by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, among other honors. His work leading the Bentley defense, in addition to recording six points (2 goals, 2 assists), helped Bentley reach the NE-10 playoffs for the fifth straight season.

His academic prowess earned him first team Capital One Academic All-America honors and the NE-10's Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence award.

The winner of the Man of the Year award will be revealed at the conference's year-end banquet on June 3 in Falmouth, Mass.
