Zeiner Chosen to NSCAA Men's Soccer Scholar All-America First Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Continuing his string of postseason honors, Bentley University men's soccer senior center-back Weston Zeiner (North Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) was chosen to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's College Division Scholar All-America first team, the association announced Monday.

Zeiner is one of 11 student-athletes named to the NSCAA's Scholar All-America first team for the College Division, which encompasses Division II and Division III student-athletes, plus junior colleges and NAIA schools. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 throughout his career and start 50 percent of his team's matches.

An accountancy major, Zeiner maintains a 3.88 GPA. He was also chosen to the NSCAA's Scholar All-East Region team.

A standout for head coach Gary Crompton during his four-year Bentley career, Zeiner has now pulled in an impressive nine postseason distinctions after his senior season. Among them, Defensive Player of the Year and unanimous first team All-Conference honors from the Northeast-10, a Capital One Academic All-America® Men's Soccer first team selection and third team All-America honors from the NSCAA.

Zeiner started all 17 matches this past season, serving as team captain and leading the Falcons to a 10-5-2 overall record, a fourth-place finish in the NE-10 and the program's fifth consecutive NE-10 playoff berth.

During his career, Zeiner started 64 of the 66 matches he appeared in. He scored 15 goals and added eight assists for 38 points, high numbers for a center-back. He helped Bentley make the NE-10 playoffs in each of his four seasons on campus.

Student-athletes named to NSCAA All-America or Scholar All-America teams will be recognized January 19 at the All-America Luncheon, held during the NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis.
