DaCosta & Pilitsis Take Northeast-10 Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University seniors Brennan DaCosta (San Diego, Calif./Westview) and goalkeeper Alex Pilitsis (Brunswick, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) have been recognized by the Northeast-10 for their performances last week in helping the men's soccer team go 2-0 in the final week of the regular season and secure a home playoff match.

DaCosta was named Player of the Week after netting one goal each in the team's wins over Franklin Pierce and Southern Connecticut, both of which went down as the game-winners. He netted a penalty kick in the 60th minute against Franklin Pierce that gave Bentley a 1-0 lead on their way to a 2-0 victory. On Friday against Southern Connecticut, he scored the lone goal in the 59th minute of a 1-0 Bentley win.

DaCosta finished the regular season with eight goals, tied for fifth in the NE-10.

Pilitsis was named Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time in three weeks. He posted shutouts against Franklin Pierce and So. Connecticut, boosting his season total to five in that category. He made five saves against the Ravens, four in the second half, and a season-high nine against the Owls.

Pilitsis finished the regular season with a record of 10-4-2, starting all 16 of the team's matches, with a 1.46 goals against average and a .720 save percentage.

The wins last week helped Bentley finish the regular season in fourth-place in the NE-10, giving them the fourth-seed in the playoffs and a quarterfinal match at home against Franklin Pierce, to be played Wednesday at 1:00 pm.
