No. 18 Bentley Upends No. 11 Pace, 11-10

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – No. 18 ranked Bentley went on the road and defeated No. 11 ranked Pace 11-10 on Saturday night.

Junior Conor Segreti (Darnestown, Md./St. John's) scored the go-ahead goal with 2:18 remaining to break a 10-10 tie. Cam Bartolomeo (Meriden, Conn./Xavier) then won the ensuing faceoff and Bentley maintained possession the rest of the way to secure the victory.

The Falcons improved to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the Northeast-10 with three games left in the regular season.

Bentley led most of the game until Pace took its first lead of the night at the 8:41 mark of the 4th quarter on a goal by Jake Veres to make the score 10-9. But after the teams exchanged possessions, including Bentley killing off a Pace man-up situation, sophomore Nathan Alviti (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) scored the tying goal at the 3:43 mark.

Bartolomeo won the ensuing faceoff and Andrew Granzier (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) scooped the ground ball for possession, which led to a shot by Segreti that was saved. However, on the clearing attempt by Pace, freshman Kyle Piersiak (Needham, Mass./Needham) caused a turnover and Nick McGovern (Bow, N.H./Bishop Guertin) got the ground ball to give them back possession.

That second attempt on the possession led to the go-ahead goal by Segreti.

Bentley led 9-8 going into the 4th quarter after junior Nicholas Thorn-Guillaro (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham Monson) scored his team-high 3rd goal of the night at 1:56 of the third quarter.

Pace tied it at 9-9 on a goal by Anthony Caputo at 14:03 of the 4th quarter, then took its first lead on the goal by Veres at 8:41.

Bartolomeo won 15-25 faceoffs for Bentley and had a game-high 10 ground balls. Junior defenseman Joe Franzoso (Shrewsbury, Mass./St. John's) had a game-high three caused turnovers.

Sophomore goalie Jackson Tinsley (Beverly Hills, Mich.) made nine saves, six in the second half, to earn the win.
