No. 19 Men’s Lacrosse Improves to 3-0 in NE10 with 13-12 Win at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – No. 19 ranked Bentley improved to 3-0 in the Northeast-10 with a 13-12 victory at Assumption on Tuesday night.

Reigning NE10 Player of the Week Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass./BC High) had seven points on two goals and five assists. Junior Cam Bartolomeo (Meriden, Conn./Xavier) went 22-26 in the faceoff circle and had 16 ground balls.

With Bentley leading 13-12 after a Greyhounds goal with 38 seconds left in the game, Bartolomeo won the ensuing faceoff and scooped the ground ball. That allowed the Falcons to run out the remaining clock to secure the win.

Bentley led 11-8 after a man-up goal by senior Eric Makhatadze (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) at the 11:21 mark of the 4th quarter. That was a second straight goal for the Falcons after Conor Segreti (Darnestown, Md./St. John's) scored less than a minute earlier.

Assumption then scored two straight after Makhatadze's goal, with both from Nolan Sheehan to cut Bentley's lead to 11-10 with 8:40 left.

Bentley responded with two straight goals, from Nicholas Thorn-Guillaro (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham Monson) in a man-up situation at 7:05 and Nathan Alviti (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) at 2:46 for a 13-10 lead.

Bentley won the next faceoff but failed to score, and after a successful clear Assumption's Patrik McGrath scored with 53 seconds left.

Assumption won the next faceoff and McGrath quickly scored again to cut Bentley's lead to 13-12. But Bartolomeo secured the following faceoff to lock up the win.

Bentley improved to 4-2 overall with the victory. They will be back in action on Saturday when they host Saint Anselm at 6:00 PM.
