Adelphi Tops Bentley 15-10 in NE10 Semifinals

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – No. 1 seed Adelphi advanced to the finals of the Northeast-10 Men's Lacrosse Championship with a 15-10 win over the No. 5 seed Bentley on Wednesday night.

Adelphi advances on to the finals where they will meet the No. 2 seed Le Moyne, which defeated the No. 3 seed Saint Anselm 15-11 in the other semifinal on Wednesday.

Bentley, ranked 16th this week by the USILA, sees its season come to a close with an 8-6 overall record.

It was a 6-5 game at halftime in favor of the Panthers, ranked No. 4 by the USILA this week.

It was a one goal game at 9:18 of the 3rd quarter after Bentley's Ben Baldasaro (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) scored a man-up goal, one of his four goals on the night. That made it a 8-7 game for Adelphi.

But the Panthers started to create some separation after that goal. They went on a 3-0 run over the next four minutes to open up an 11-7 lead.

The run was halted when Baldasaro scored his 4th of the day at 3:25 of the 3rd quarter, with senior Clay Moseman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) on the assist.

Two straight goals by the Panthers in the opening four-plus minutes of the 4th quarter gave them a 13-8 lead. But Bentley again fought back with two goals in quick succession.

Senior Matty O'Brien (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) scored just 10 seconds after the second Adelphi goal of the quarter. Then off the ensuing faceoff, junior Jake Tyska (Natick, Mass./Wayland) found the back of the net with O'Brien on the assist to cut the deficit to 13-10.

That was the last time Bentley could score though. Adelphi's Jason Rebaudo notched a goal at 5:12 and Joseph Duchnowski at 1:15 to finish off the scoring.

The teams traded goals in a first half that featured four ties and three lead changes.

Falcons goalie Keaton Roarick (Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook) made 16 saves, a season high. Ryan Birch (Walpole, Mass./Walpole), Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass./BC High) and Moseman each had two assists. Cam Bartolomeo (Meriden, Conn./Xavier) went 8-14 on faceoffs.
