No. 20 Bentley Drops Franklin Pierce, 12-6

Rindge, N.H. – The 20th ranked Bentley University men's lacrosse went on the road to Franklin Pierce on Wednesday afternoon and took down the Ravens 12-6 to improve to 5-3 on the season.

Senior attacker Kristopher Campbell (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) and graduate student Joey Tesoriero (Huntington Station, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills) led the Bentley offense. Campbell had five points on one goal and four assists and Tesoriero had four goals. That is a new career high for Tesoriero.

Senior defensive midfielder Connor Baughan (Foxborough, Mass./Portsmouth Abbey) had five ground balls, and sophomore Jake Tyska (Natick, Mass./Wayland) dominated the faceoff circle to the tune of 13-15 with 10 ground balls.

Ben Baldasaro (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) and Ryan Birch (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) chipped in with two goals each.

Bentley came out firing in the 1st quarter and took a 4-0 lead. Baldasaro got it started with a goal just 1:37 into the proceedings. Tesoriero then scored two straight man up goals just over a minute apart and Bentley had a 3-0 lead after just over five minutes played.

Campbell closed out the quarter with a goal with 52 seconds left, with junior Clay Moseman (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) on the assist.

Franklin Pierce got back in the game by outscoring Bentley 5-3 in the second quarter to make it a 7-5 Falcons lead at halftime.

But after halftime the Falcons turned the tide back their way. Senior Dom Cioffi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) got them off on the right foot with a goal 4:53 into the half. After a Franklin Pierce goal by Caleb Ikkela at the 10:00 mark, the hosts would not score again.

Tesoriero scored twice in the quarter, bookending goals from Baldasaro and Birch as Bentley led 12-6 after three quarters.

The 4th quarter began but was halted 1:14 in due to lightening in the area. After about a 45 minute delay, the game was declared over, and Bentley took a 12-6 victory back to Waltham.

The Falcons will play their final regular season game on Saturday at Saint Rose, before the NE10 playoffs begin on either April 28 or May 1.
