Bentley Ranked 18th in USILA Poll; Baughan Named Preseason All-America by Inside Lacrosse

Waltham, Mass. – The Bentley men's lacrosse team is ranked 18th in the Week 1 United States Lacrosse Association Coaches Poll. While junior midfielder Connor Baughan (Foxborough, Mass./Portsmouth Abbey) was named a second team Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse.

The Falcons are coming off a 9-5 season and 7-4 in the Northeast-10. The team qualified for the NE10 playoffs and finished the season ranked 18th by the USILA.

Head coach Jim Murphy, now in his 28th season at the helm of the program, was named the NE10 Coach of the Year for 2019 and also picked up his 200th career win during the campaign. He welcomes back a number of key players, including senior goalie Mike Haggan (Braintree, Mass./BC High), midfielder Matt Brooks (Brunswick, Maine/Phillips Exeter), face-off man Nick Irby (Groton, Mass./Groton) and Baughan.

Baughan, who garnered the Preseason All-American nod by Inside Lacrosse as short stick defensive midfielder, led the team with 40 ground balls last season. He was one of four players who were named NE10 All-Conference last season, along with Haggan, Brooks and sophomore Ben Baldasaro (Exeter, N.H./Exeter).

The Falcons are one of four NE10 teams ranked in the USILA poll, along with Le Moyne (2), Adelphi (3) and Pace (9). Bentley was also voted 5th in the NE10 Preseason Poll that was released today.

Bentley will get the 2020 season started on Saturday, Feb. 29 when they host Le Moyne.
