Bentley Overwhelms Saint Rose 15-5

WALTHAM, Mass. – An eight goal first quarter propelled the Bentley men's lacrosse team to a 15-5 victory over Northeast-10 foe Saint Rose on Tuesday night. Sophomore Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) led the attack with four goals.

A dominating first quarter saw the Falcons jump out to an 8-2 lead that they never relinquished. Nine different players scored on the night, including defenseman Robert Kramer (Reading, Mass./Austin Prep), who in addition to his goal, caused two turnovers and had four ground balls.

Senior John Wheeler (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) equaled Hurley with a game-high four points, with Wheeler's coming on two goals and two assists. Junior Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) notched a hat trick, his third straight game with at least three goals.

Bentley led 3-0 after less than five minutes played, with the goals coming from Alex Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) and two from Hurley. Bentley also finished the quarter strong, with three goals in the final 3:10, from Hurley and two from Wheeler.

The only goal of the 2nd quarter was scored by long stick midfielder Eli Morrissey (Rowley, Mass./Governor's Academy) as Bentley led 9-2 at halftime.

The Falcons continued to pour it on in the third quarter, as they outscored the Golden Knights 4-1. Sanford had two goals in the quarter, and Kramer and freshman Matt Brooks (Brunswick, Maine/Phillips Exeter) found the back of the net as well.

In the 4th quarter, Hurley and freshman Cam Christenson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) got the score sheet.

Senior Max Adler (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Northfield Mt. Hermon) won 14-21 face-offs and scooped up a game-high 10 ground balls.

With the win, the Falcons improved to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in NE10 games. They'll go for a third win in a row on Saturday when they host No. 3 ranked Adelphi.
