Grant, Mancini & Astarita Earn Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Nods

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Northeast-10 has announced that three Bentley University men's lacrosse players, junior Brendan Grant (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers), senior Dante Mancini (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) and freshman Nick Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) have received All-Conference honors.

Grant was picked to the second team at attack after leading the Falcons in all three major offensive categories with 27 goals, 14 assists and 41 points. He's ranked in the top-10 of the conference for per game averages in each category at the end of the regular season; seventh in goals (2.08), 10th in assists (1.08) and fifth in points (3.15). He also added 37 ground balls, second on the team.

Grant led the team in scoring in nine of 13 games and had the three highest scoring games of the season for a Bentley player with five points each against Merrimack, AIC and Assumption. It's his second All-Conference selection after being named All-Rookie in 2009.

Mancini is a second team selection as a specialist, the first time in his career he's received All-Conference recognition.  The midfielder started 12 of 13 games during the regular season and was tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with 21. His season-high in that category was four against Merrimack. He also added 24 ground balls, fifth on the team, and two goals.

Astarita, a midfielder, was named to the All-Rookie team. He was the team's highest scoring freshman with nine goals. He scored in his debut against C.W. Post and had a run of seven goals in three games, culminating with three in Bentley's win over Merrimack on April 19.

In addition to the All-Conference teams, the league announced its major award winners as well. Le Moyne's Jack Venditti was named Player of the Year, Franklin Pierce's Edward Noonan was named Rookie of the Year, Pat Moran of Le Moyne was chosen as the Defender of the Year, Eric Janssen of Adelphi was selected Goalie of the Year and Assumption's Mel McKee won the Coach of the Year award.
