Mansfield Named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week
WALTHAM, Mass. – Ryan Mansfield was named Atlantic Hockey's Rookie of the Week on Monday after a five-point game in Bentley's 8-4 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday.
Mansfield notched a hat trick and two assists to help the Falcons complete the series sweep at Bentley Arena on Saturday night.
His hat trick was the third by a Falcon this season. He joined A.J. Hodges (Nov. 10 vs. Niagara) and Ethan Leyh (Dec. 30 vs. Union).
Mansfield's five points also equaled Hodges for the single-game high for points in a game by an Atlantic Hockey player this season.
Mansfield scored the game's first goal 1:10 into the game. He scored again at 16:42 of the 2nd period and completed the hat trick at 17:22 of the 3rd period. He had assists on goals by Tucker Hodgson and Arlo Merritt in the 2nd period.
The Burlington, Ontario native is the second Bentley player to be the AHA Rookie of the Week this season, joining Chase Davis (Oct. 30).
Bentley is back in action this weekend for two games at RIT.
