Grabko’s Shutout Leads Bentley Past Robert Morris 3-0

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA. - In the second night of a two-game series between Bentley and Robert Morris, the Falcons came out on top 3-0 to split the series. Senior goaltender Nicholas Grabko made all 29 saves in a shutout effort, and freshman Ryan Mansfield scored his first goal as a Falcon in the victory.

It was the first career shutout for the Channahon, Illinois native.

The first period was evenly matched, with neither team being able to get on the scoresheet. Bentley outshot the Colonials 16-13 in the opening frame.

In a game where it seemed like nobody could break the ice, senior defenseman Nick Bochen provided the breakthrough just past the midpoint of the 2nd period. He fired a puck on net that took a couple bounces before finding the back of the net, giving Bentley the 1-0 lead. Nik Armstrong-Kingkade came up with the assist on the tally.

The goal was Bochen's second of the year.

The Falcons continued to push after the goal, and freshman Ryan Mansfield was able to finish a rebound opportunity for his first goal in a Bentley uniform with 6:22 to play in the second period. Arlo Merritt took the initial shot that led to the rebound and was credited with an assist.

Bentley came out flying in the third period, where A.J. Hodges blasted a puck past goaltender Chad Veltri on a one-timer to give the Falcons a three-goal lead at the 5:16 mark. Jimmy Doyle and Nick Bochen got the assists on the play.

Time continued to tick to zero, and Grabko remained perfect on the night stopping all 29 pucks that came his way. Bentley's penalty kill was strong, as they killed off all six Colonial power plays.

It's the second shutout of the season for the Falcons after they blanked Stonehill 2-0 last Friday.

With three wins in their last four games, Bentley will try to keep their momentum going at AIC Thursday night at 7:05 P.M.
