Bentley Drops a Heartbreaker to No. 1 Boston Univ. in Overtime, 3-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley took No. 1 ranked Boston University to overtime, but the Terriers' Lane Hutson scored 3:12 into overtime to give them the win.

Bentley trailed 2-0 but fought doggedly to makeup the deficit. Freshman Kolby Amici got the Falcons on the board 16:49 into the 2nd period. Defenseman Tucker Hodgson had a shot blocked on the blue line, but Amici was first to the puck and ripped a shot past BU goalie Mathieu Caron to make it 2-1.

The Falcons outshot the Terriers 11-9 in the 2nd period.

Bentley then tied it 2-2 on a goal by A.J. Hodges at the 6:27 mark of the third period. The goal came just as a power play expired as Ryan Upson passed it to Ryan Nause, who fed Hodges by the right faceoff circle. Hodges then one-timed a shot past Caron to tie the score.

Neither team scored during the remainder of regulation despite good chances for both teams.

That sent the game to a 3-on-3 overtime.

BU went on the power play 3:03 into the extra session, and the Terriers took advantage with the goal by Hutson to win it.

Falcons goalie Connor Hasley made 29 saves and Caron stopped 21.

Bentley's next game is on Oct. 14 at Northeastern.
