Bentley Falls in Overtime to Holy Cross, 3-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – Holy Cross' Matt Slick scored 1:55 into overtime to give the visitors a 3-2 victory over Bentley on Friday night at Bentley Arena.

The Falcons were trailing 2-1 in the 3rd period, but a power play goal by sophomore Cole Kodsi (Boca Raton, Fla.) at the 6:46 mark tied the score. The goal was Kodsi's 8th of the season.

Junior Matt Gosiewski (Wilton, Conn.) put a shot on net from the top of the left face-off circle that was saved by Holy Cross goalie Matt Radomsky. But the rebound bounced to Kodsi in front of the net and he beat Radomsky to the spot for the goal.

Neither team was able to score the rest of the way. Falcons goalie Evan DeBrouwer (Blenheim, Ontario) came up with several big saves over the rest of the regulation and in overtime on his way to a 34 save night.

DeBrouwer came up with two saves in overtime on Holy Cross' Anthony Vincent. But it was Vincent who came away with the puck in the neutral zone and fed a centering pass to Slick for the winning goal after a break down the ice.

Bentley took a 1-0 lead in this game on freshman defenseman Tucker Hodgson's (Grand Forks, N.D.) 2nd goal of the season at 15:29 of the 1st period. After Hodgson put an initial shot on goal, Collin Rutherford (Tonawanda, N.Y.) tracked down the rebound, skated behind the net and spotted Hodgson out in front, who beat Radomsky to his stick side for the goal.

Holy Cross though tied the game at 5:44 of the 2nd period on sophomore Matt Guerra's 7th goal of the year. They then took the lead at 3:12 of the 3rd period on junior Bobby Young's 4th goal of the year.

Bentley, who earned a point in the standings for going to overtime, saw its Atlantic Hockey record fall to 10-13-2.

These same two teams will close out the regular season tomorrow night in Worcester at 7:05 PM.
