Harrison and Bavaro Each Score Twice in Bentley’s 7-4 Win at Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Sophomores Ethan Harrison (Plano, Texas) and Drew Bavaro (Bradenton, Fla.) each two goals to help Bentley University to a 7-4 road win over Canisius in the series opener on Friday night at the Harborcenter.

Harrison scored his first two career goals in the 2nd period and Bavaro scored his 8th and 9th goals of the season in the 3rd period. Bavaro also had two assists for a four-point night.

The Falcons trailed 2-1 after the first period, where graduate student defenseman Matt Lombardozzi (Leominster, Mass.) scored his 6th power play goal of the season.

Bentley though turned it on in the 2nd period with two goals and outshot Canisius 21-8.

Harrison got his first goal off a rebound after a shot by Bavaro was saved by Canisius goalie Jacob Barczewski at 3:34 to tie the score 2-2.

Canisius briefly went ahead 3-2 at the 16:05 mark on a goal by Austin Alger. But just 38 seconds later Harrison scored again after he deposited a loose puck in front of the net off a shot by Ethan Roswell (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) to tie the game 3-3.

Bentley then surged ahead with two goals in the first 4:16 of the 3rd period. Bavaro scored at 2:33 after he skated end to end and scored with a shot just above the left face-off dot. Sophomore Cole Kodsi (Boca Raton, Fla.) then scored a short-handed goal just under two minutes later after he finished off a two-on-one with Brendan Walkom (Pittsburgh, Pa.) for a 5-3 lead.

Alger netted his second of the night at 12:09 to cut Bentley's lead to 5-4, but the Falcons pulled away as Bavaro lit the lamp with a shorthanded goal at 15:47 and senior Dylan Pitera (Culver, Ind.) finished it off with an empty-net goal with six seconds left.

The Falcons improved to 10-5 in Atlantic Hockey with the win and 12-9 overall.
