Northeastern Tops Bentley 4-0 in Season Opener

BOSTON, Mass. – Northeastern goalie Devon Levi made 29 saves and junior left winger Aidan McDonough scored two goals to lead the Huskies to a 4-0 victory over Bentley on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.

Falcons goalie Nicholas Grabko (Channahon, Ill.) made 32 saves, including 17 in the first period.

McDonough, a draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks, scored goals at 8:55 of the 1st period and 17:30 of the 2nd period. Sophomore Sam Colangelo scored late in the 1st period to give Northeastern a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.

Jayden Struble added an empty net goal late in the 3rd period for the final score.

For Bentley, graduate student Kohei Sato (Nishitokyo, Japan) playing in his first game for the Falcons, tied for the team lead with five shots. Sophomore defenseman Drew Bavaro (Bradenton, Fla.) also registered five shots.

The Falcons penalty kill went 4-4 on the night.

Sato was one of seven student-athletes who played in their first game for Bentley tonight. He joined transfers Phil Knies (Phoenix, Arizona), Collin Rutherford (Tonawanda, N.Y.), Eric Linell (Great Neck, N.Y.) and freshmen defensemen Tucker Hodgson (Grand Forks, N.D.) and Tanner Main (Welland, Ontario).

Bentley will now turn its attention towards its home opener, which will be on Friday night against Ohio State.
