Roswell Named Captain of Bentley Hockey Program for 2021-22 Season; Walkom and Walter Named Assistant Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior defenseman Ethan Roswell will be the captain of the Bentley hockey program for the 2021-22 season, the team announced on Tuesday. Senior forward Brendan Walkom and junior defenseman Marcus Walter will be the assistant captains.

"Being named captain is such an honor; to have the opportunity to represent Bentley Hockey and the community is very special to me," said Roswell. "I'm looking forward to doing everything I can on and off the ice to bring this team together and win a championship for Bentley."

Roswell, who was the Falcons' assistant captain last season, has been one the team's top defensemen in his three years so far at Bentley. He's led the team in blocks the last two seasons, with a total of 81 in just 39 games which includes the shortened 2020-21 season.

A native of Paradise Valley, Arizona, Roswell also excels academically and is active in the community. He was recently named an All-American Scholar by the American Hockey Coaches Association. And he is set to be Vice President of Bentley's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2021-22 academic year, while also being a member of the racial justice team and the mental health committee for athletes.

Roswell is the 4th straight defenseman to be a team captain for the Falcons. He joins Charlie Marchand (2020-21), Brett Orr (co-captain, 2019-20) and Tanner Jago (co-captain, 2018-19).

"We are excited to have Ethan Roswell along with assistant captains Brendan Walkom and Marcus Walter lead our program this year," said head coach Ryan Soderquist. "Ethan's commitment, on and off the ice, compete and consistency embodies the culture that thrives within our program."

Walkom, from Pittsburg, Pa., has seen his scoring output increase in each of his three seasons at Bentley. As a junior he scored six goals and added three assists in the shortened 2020-21 season. Two of his goals were game-winners, against Holy Cross on Jan. 26 and Air Force in the Atlantic Hockey playoffs.

Walkom is a double major in both economics and law at Bentley.

Walter is entering his junior year in 2021-22. He's been one of the team's steadiest defensemen in his two previous seasons with 42 blocked shots in 39 career games.

He is from St. Albert, Alberta and is majoring in finance.

The Falcons are set to get the 2021-22 season started on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Northeastern.
