Bentley Tops Army 4-2 Behind Two Goals from Zuffante, One Each from Clark and Bavaro

Waltham, Mass. – Senior Michael Zuffante (Bloomingdale, Ill.) scored two goals and freshmen defensemen Matt Clark (Jamison, Pa.) and Drew Bavaro (Bradenton, Fla.) each scored their first career goals to lead Bentley University to a 4-2 win over Army West Point on Friday night.

Freshman goalie Nicholas Grabko (Channahon, Ill) turned away 32 shots to continue his strong start to the season and to earn his first career win.

Zuffante scored with 5:11 left in the 1st period to give Bentley a 1-0 lead, after he finished off a two-on-one in the offensive zone with Matt Gosiewski (Wilton, Conn.) feeding him a pass from the left wing to the slot.

Zuffante added a second goal 6:00 minutes into the 2nd period to put the Falcons up 2-0, with Dylan Pitera (Culver, Ind.) and Luke Orysiuk (Edmonton, Alberta) on the assists.

Army pulled a goal back 34 seconds later on a tally by Tucker DeYoung.

But Bentley went back ahead by two goals just under two minutes later on Clark's first career goal. A faceoff win by Gosiewski set the goal up with a pass back to Clark, who fired from the top of the left faceoff circle for the goal, and a 3-1 Bentley lead.

With just over a minute to play in the 2nd period, it was Bavaro's turn to light the lamp as he scored a power play goal with Gosiewski and Santerno assisting. Santerno fed a pass along the boards to Gosiewski on the point, who slid a pass to Bavaro in the slot. Bavaro then ripped his shot past Army goalie Trevin Kozlowski for the goal, and a 4-1 lead.

Grabko then slammed the door on Army in the 3rd period with 15 saves, as the Falcons went on to secure the 4-2 win.

Bentley (1-1-0) will now go for the series sweep tomorrow night when the series shifts to West Point.
