Schmidt Gets Second Straight Atlantic Player of the Week Honor

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc./Sioux City) has earned his second straight Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week honor. Schmidt had four more goals in the series against Sacred Heart to keep his hot streak going. He and AIC's Jackson Dudley were named Co-Players of the Week.

Schmidt powered Bentley to a 3-2 win at Sacred Heart on Jan. 20 with two goals. His power play goal at 7:18 of the 3rd period gave the Falcons a 3-1 lead, and went down as the game-winning goal. Earlier in the game, he found the back of the net at 5:24 of the 1st period to tie the game 1-1 and cancel out an early Sacred Heart goal.

The next night at the JAR, he had two goals and one assist, which included another power goal in the 2nd period. He also had the primary assist on Max French's power play goal. It was his 3rd, three-point game of the season.

Schmidt has been on a goal scoring tear lately. He has seven in the last five games, which gives him an Atlantic Hockey co-best 14 on the season. He also has a seven-game point streak going, with 8 goals and 4 assists, which is the longest streak by a Bentley player this season. Schmidt now has a team-best 24 points on the season, which is T-4th in Atlantic Hockey.

Schmidt and the Falcons are back on the ice this weekend with a series at RIT that gets underway Friday night at the Polisseni Center in Rochester.
