PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Hosts Robert Morris scored four even-strength goals on its way to a 5-0 win over Bentley Saturday night at the 84 Lumber Arena in Atlantic Hockey action.
The teams battled to a scoreless first period with Bentley goaltender Jayson Argue (Swan River, Manitoba/Nanaimo) sharp early on with 13 saves. Bentley went 2-2 on the penalty kill in the period against Robert Morris' top-ranked power play.
Robert Morris though struck twice in the 2nd period, both times finishing off rushes down the ice. Defenseman Rob Mann scored at 10:14 after completing a two-on-one with forward David Friedman. The Colonials then delivered a blow just before intermission as senior Zac Lynch scored on a break into the offensive zone after taking a pass from Greg Gibson with just 35 seconds left in the period.
Robert Morris added to its lead early in the 3rd with a goal by defenseman Alex Bontje at 1:50, and a power play goal by sophomore Brady Ferguson at 6:08.
With the win, the Colonials improve to 10-3-3 in Atlantic Hockey play, while the Falcons drop to 6-7-2. Bentley is back in action this coming weekend when they host RIT for a series at the JAR.
