AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – A goal with 28 seconds left in regulation by Air Force's Chad Demers saved them from getting swept by Bentley, and the two teams played to a 2-2 tie in the conclusion of their Atlantic Hockey series Saturday night.

Bentley was leading 2-1 and was closing in on its first ever sweep of Air Force when Demers scored an extra-attacker goal with just 28 ticks left on the clock to tie the score at 2-2. Air Force had pulled its goalie Jason Torf with 2:14 left in the third period. The goal was setup by a shot from the point by junior Scott Holm, which hit a stick in front of the net. Demers then gathered the loose rebound and scored the tying goal.

Neither team scored in overtime and the game ended in a tie. Both teams had two shots on goal in the extra session.

As was the case in Friday's game Bentley fell behind 1-0, with Air Force's Adam McKenzie scoring a 5-on-3 goal at the 10:43 mark of the first period.

Two Bentley penalties within 15 seconds of each other gave Air Force the two-man advantage for 1:45. Bentley's penalty kill did a great job in killing of the first 1:29 of the 5-on-3, until Air Force finally broke through with McKenzie's goal.

Bentley though went on to kill off five straight Air Force power plays, including three in a scoreless second period.

Bentley tied the game at 14:32 of the first period, as they got a 5-on-3 goal themselves from junior Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors). Grieve scored with 22 seconds left on the two-man advantage, his ninth goal of the year from Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) and Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms).

Later in the period Bentley took advantage of another power play opportunity, with Gensler scoring to give them a 2-1 lead at 16:09 of the opening period. Grieve drove in on the net and had a shot saved by Torf, only for Gensler to crash the net and lift the rebound past Torf for the goal.

Komm made 34 saves on the night, as Bentley extends its unbeaten streak to four and improves to 5-7-1 on the season and 4-2-1 in Atlantic Hockey play. They are back in action next weekend when they host Robert Morris for a two-game series beginning Friday night.
