WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior forward Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) has been named to the 2012-13 New England Division I All-Star team, the New England Hockey Writers Association announced Tuesday. Voting is comprised of Division I head coaches and members of the media in the New England area.

Gensler is one of 12 players named to the team, and one of six forwards. There were four defensemen and two goaltenders chosen to the squad as well. He's the only player from Atlantic Hockey to be honored this season.

Gensler was named first team All-Atlantic hockey for the second straight year on March 19, and was also a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, which he won last season.

He led the Falcons in scoring for the second straight year, recording 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points, becoming just the second player in school history to record consecutive 40 point seasons and the first to do it at Division I.

After all Atlantic Hockey teams finished competing over the weekend, he finished third in the league in points, tied for seventh in goals and tied for third in assists. He's currently tied for 14th in the nation in points per game (1.14).
