Gensler & Weinstein Voted to Atlantic Hockey All-Conference Teams

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University hockey players Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) and Steve Weinstein (Los Angles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) have been voted to Atlantic Hockey All-Conference teams by the league's head coaches, it was announced Tuesday.

Gensler, a junior forward, earned first team honors for the second straight season. While Weinstein, a sophomore defenseman, was picked to the second team.

Gensler, who last year became the first Bentley player to be named first team All-Atlantic Hockey, is one of just two players voted to the first team two years in a row, joining Air Force senior forward Kyle De Laurell.

Gensler won the Atlantic Hockey regular season scoring title for the second straight season with a 16-24-40 line, becoming just the second player in school history to record consecutive 40 point seasons and the first to do it at Division I. In conference play, he finished second in the league in scoring with a 13-20-33 line in 27 games. He's currently 15th in the nation in points per game (1.14).

Weinstein was Bentley's most consistent defenseman this season and finished with a 6-19-25 scoring line in 35 games played. The 19 assists were good for third on the team, and his 25 points fourth on the squad. He's currently third in scoring among Atlantic Hockey defenseman and 15th nationally in points per game among defenseman (0.71).

Weinstein also produced a +8 rating during the season, second on the team.

Gensler and Weinstein join teammates Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) and Matt Blomquist (Blaine, Minn./Coulee Region Chill) in earning All-Conference honors.  Both Gladiuk and Blomquist were named to the All-Rookie team last week.
