Bentley Ties for 2nd in Battle at the Beech

HOWARTH, N.J. – Led by junior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS), the Bentley University golf team tied for second in the two-day Battle of the Beech at the White Beeches Golf and Country Club Tuesday.

Bentley, which stood in fourth place among 12 teams after Monday's opening round, shared the second spot with two other Northeast-10 Conference teams, Assumption University and American International College with a two-day score of 634. The Falcons also had the tournament's second-best day two score, a 313. That was an improvement of eight strokes over its day one performance.

Walter tied for eighth place in the 67-man field with a 78-79-157. That put him six strokes back of the winning score, a 151. Both Li Su of American International and Bill Koch of Post recorded a six-over 78 day two score after starting with a 73.

Next on the list for Bentley was senior Ryan Daly (Beverly, Mass./Beverly HS). He tied for 11th with a 78-80-158. The number three finisher for the Falcons was sophomore Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS), who tied for 17th with an 83-78-161.

Walter had 22 pars in the tournament, tied for the third most, and Stuart was tied for the third most birdies with five. Daly was one of the best on the par-fives, playing those holes to a minus-one,

Bentley's next tournament is the Mount Olive Spring Invitational next Monday and Tuesday in Greensboro, N.C.
