Bentley Finishes 7th in Eagles Invitational Following 3rd Round Improvement

WATERTOWN, Conn. – Bentley University finished seventh in the Post University Eagles Invitational after tying for the third best third-round score. The 54-hole tournament concluded Tuesday at the Watertown Golf Club.

Bentley, the only team among the top ten in the 14-team event to improve its score each round, finished with a 307-300-297-904. The Falcons climbed one spot in the standings from Monday's finish and were just six strokes out of fourth place overall.

Cracking the top 20 for Bentley were junior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) and freshman Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy).

Walter finished in 12th with his third-round 75 giving him an eight-over 221 for the tournament. On Monday, he recorded a 75 and a 71 on the par-71 course. His final round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5, 478-yard first hole.

Eaton's final round 74 put him in a tie for 19th at 76-74-74-224. He had a total of 36 pars during the tournament, tied for the fourth most among the 81 players.

Sophomore Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) climbed 14 places in the standings Tuesday and finished in a tie for 31st with an 81-75-74-230. Junior Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS) also closed with a 74 and tied for 37th overall (79-80-74-233), an improvement of 18 places.

Southern New Hampshire, with three of the top five individuals captured the team championship by 13 strokes over Post, 865-878. SNHU's Jack Pepin earned medalist honors by three strokes after shooting a third-round 67 for a 212. Sharing second were his teammate, AJ Cavotta and Assumption's Sean Magarian.

Bentley will finish the fall season Friday and Saturday at the Le Moyne Invitational.
