Bentley Finishes Day 1 of Northeast-10 Championships in 7th Place
CONCORD, N.H. – Led by juniors Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) and Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS), the Bentley University Falcons finished day one of the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships at the Concord Country Club seventh among the ten participating teams. The championships will conclude Wednesday with the first tee time 8 am.
Bentley, which was tied for third after nine holes, slipped on the back nine and posted a team score of 304. The Falcons are ten strokes out of the top three and trail first-place Assumption University by 15. Assumption, with a 309, will resume play four up on Le Moyne College and five ahead of Southern New Hampshire.
Walter, whose four birdies were tied for a tournament-high, finished the day tied for tenth with a three-over 73. Lynch was two strokes back, with his five-over 75 putting him in a tied for 17th.
Bentley also received a solid effort from senior Ryan Daly (Beverly/Beverly HS), who shot a 76 and is tied for 22nd among a 50-player field.
Southern New Hampshire's Jess Liss was the only golfer to break par, with his two-under 68 giving him a two-stroke lead on teammate Al Cavotta and Le Moyne's Tyler Birdd.
The championship was shortened from 54 to 36 holes and delayed a day due to the inclement weather earlier in the week.
