McLane Leads Bentley During Opening 2 Rounds of SNHU Invitational; Falcons Stand in 4th

MANCHESTER. N.H. – Led by senior Kyle McLane (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington HS), the Bentley University golf finished day one of the 11-team Penmen Fall Invitational in fourth place

Playing at the Derryfield Country Club, Bentley turned in a 297-288-585 and will enter Tuesday's final round trailing host Southern New Hampshire University (280-280-560), Post University (287-289-576) and Assumption University (290-294-584).

McLane had his best performance as a collegian with a one-under-par 143 for 36 holes. He fired a one-under 71 during the morning round and nearly matched that with a 72 in the afternoon, finishing the day tied for eighth.

Four of the five Falcons finished the day in the top half of the 60-player field, including freshmen Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) and Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS), both of whom were making their collegiate debuts. Eaton turned in a 75-71-146 for a tie for 13th and Desjardins posted a 75-73-148, good for a tied for 20th. Eaton's day included seven birdies.

Sophomore Timothy Picard (Dracut, Mass./Lowell Catholic HS) also played well, tying for 29th with a collegiate-best 78-72-150.

Matt Conti, playing for the host team, had an outstanding day, shooting 67-68-135, and will take a three-stroke lead into the final round.
