Ethier Finishes Day 2 of NCAA Championships Tied for 42nd

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. --- Day two of the NCAA Division II Golf Championships, being contested at the PGA National Champion Course, ended with Bentley University senior Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) tied for 42nd place. The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Wednesday with Ethier teeing off at 8:47 am.

Ethier had a difficult second round, shooting an 11-over 83 with his round including two birdies, five bogeys and four doubles. The birds came on the 525-yard, par-five tenth (the one he eagled on Monday) and the 388-yard, par-four 13th.

For the tournament, Ethier has a 75-83-158, tied for seventh best among players out of the East/Atlantic region.

"Afternoon scoring was made more difficult by increasing winds and Tommy's poor putting blocked any meaningful rally," said coach Mickey Herron. "In all respects, a very disappointing round despite super tee shots throughout the day.

"Morning teams and players did catch a break with lighter winds. Pins were still tucked, but the key element holding Tommy back was the putter" explained Herron.

Average scores for round two were up slightly, to 79.06 as compared to 78.77 during the opening round.

Indianapolis' Keegan Bronnenberg and Lee University's Oliver Lewis-Perkins are the co-leaders through two rounds, each with a one-over 145.  They are each two up on Washburn's Andrew Beckler and two of Bronnenberg's teammates, Erik Edwards and Ian Carroll.
