 WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University Falcons will be looking for their first tournament crown since Octobr 2017 and their seventh since 2006 when the 2020-21 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships are contested Tuesday at the Springfield Country Club.

Bentley, which has had an impressive spring leading up to the championship, will begin play as the number one ranked team in the NCAA Division II East Region, as well as the pretournament favorite according to a poll of conference coaches.

Coach Mickey Herron's squad received seven of ten first-place votes in the NE10 poll and a total of 79 points. Defending champion Assumption was second with two firsts and 74, Southern New Hampshire collected the other first and 60 points, and Franklin Pierce was fourth was 58.

Bentley and Assumption have gone head-to-head four times this spring with the Falcons having the better score three times.

Herron's lineup will include senior Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS), graduate student Ellis Yoder (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead HS), junior Matt Mackin (Westwood/Westwood HS), junior Ryan Daly (Beverly/Beverly HS) and sophomore Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS).

Ethier, the reigning NE10 Player of the Year and the 2018 NE10 Rookie of the Year, was the championships runner-up in 2018-19. He's had an outstanding spring with a stroke average of 72.4 and medalist honors in three of six tournaments.

Yoder, a 2020 CoSIDA Division II Academic All-America in the men's at-large program, and Mackin, follow with averages of 75.9 and 76.0, respectively. Walter has averaged 77.7 during three rounds and Daly has achieved a 79.0.

The 36-hole tournament is scheduled to get underway at 8 am.
