Bentley Finishes 2nd of 7 at Saint Anselm Spring Invitational
SOMERSWORTH, N.H. – After taking first in its previous three competitions, including the Bentley Spring Invitational on Tuesday, the Bentley University men's golf team finished second of seven Friday during the 36-hole Saint Anselm Spring Invitational at The Oaks Golf Links.
Bentley, with a 301-311-612, trailed tourney champion Assumption University by nine strokes. The Greyhounds turned in a 299-304-603. Franklin Pierce University finished third with a 309-307-616.
Individually, Bentley senior co-captain saw his run of three straight finishes at the top of the leaderboard come to an end. He was tied for first after the first 18 and finished in a tie for second with a 71-76-147 on the par-71 course.
Assumption's Ryan Fillebrown earned medalist honors with a one-over 71-72-143, and Ethier's 147 was equaled by Assumption's Dylan Plis and Franklin Pierce's Sean Magarin.
Bentley's number two man was Matt Mackin (Westwood, Mass./Westwood HS), who tied for tenth with a 76-79-155.
Graduate co-captain Ellis Yoder (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead HS) was a stroke back of Mackin, tying for 11th with a 77-79-156.
On Monday, Bentley will be in Baldwinsville, N.Y. for the Le Moyne College Invitational.
