Bentley Places 4 on CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Teams

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University was well represented on the CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District 1 at-large teams, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America, with four student-athletes earning the honor.

The men's Academic All-District 1 team included Bentley swimmer Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./ Bishop Guertin HS) and golfers Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) and Ellis Yoder (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead HS). Field hockey All-America Tess Anderson (Stow/Nashoba Reg. HS) was voted on to the women's Academic All-District 1 team.

All four will advance to the national ballot for the selection of the CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large teams, which will be announced next month.

District one includes student-athletes competing in the Northeast-10, the Central Atlantic Collegiate and the East Coast conferences. At-Large sports include golf, tennis, swimming, hockey, field hockey, lacrosse and gymnastics.

Anderson, a senior who has amassed a 3.58 grade point average as an information design and corporate communications major, earned second-team All-America honors last fall from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. She's the only Northeast-10 player to rank among the top five scorers each of the last two seasons, with 11 goals and five assists for 30 points in 2019 and 18 goals and five assists for 41 points as a  junior in 2018.

Ethier, a junior, was the 2019-20 Northeast-10 Men's Golfer of the Year after posting a 73.0 stroke average during the fall portion of the season. Owner of the best stroke average in program history at 74.45, he is a three-time PING All-East Region honoree and also a three-time All-NE-10 selection, including first team the last two years. In the classroom, Ethier has attained a 3.59 GPA as a corporate finance and accounting major.

Yoder, a co-captain of the 2019-20 Bentley golf team and also a junior, earned third-team All-Northeast-10 honors during a season that was curtained by the COVID-19 Pandemic. His stroke average, 75.75 in four tournaments, has improved annually since his arrival on campus. Yoder, who has a 3.93 in accountancy, has made the President's List every semester.

Zoda, a sophomore accountancy major with a 3.62 GPA, is a ten-time Northeast-10 champion after winning five golds at the 2019 conference championships and defending each of those this past February. He was tied for the most points scored in the meet (45) and his individual golds came in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events. Zoda's name is attached to the school record in the 50 free (20.71), 100 free (45.78), 100 individual medley (53.94) and four of the five relays.
