Falconer & Yoder Named Bentley Golf Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Senior Robert Falconer (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS) and junior Ellis Yoder (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead HS) will serve as captains of the 2019-20 Bentley University golf team, head coach Mickey Herron announced.

The duo helped last year's squad finish second in the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional and advance to the NCAA Championships as a team for the first time in program history.

Falconer was a second-team All-Northeast-10 honoree as a junior when he finished third on the team in stroke average at 77.0. Golfstat ranked him 17th in the East Region and he turned in four top-ten finishes. He placed fourth in the NE10's with a 72-71-143 and was tied for 17th in the regional with a 76-74-77-227.

Yoder completed his first two years at Bentley with only one grade less than a 4.0 and was voted to last season's Academic All-Northeast-10 team. He was also the first-ever recipient of the NE10's Elite 24 Award, which goes to the student-athlete at each conference championship with the highest GPA. On the course, Yoder had a 78.1 stroke average in his first season as part of Bentley's top five and placed 28th at the Regional.

Bentley opens the fall schedule Sunday and Monday with the Franklin Pierce Invitational at the Keene (N.H.) Country Club.

The fall schedule also includes tournaments hosted by Southern New Hampshire, Saint Rose and Le Moyne, along with the Northeast-10 Championships Oct. 7-8.
