Bentley Tied for 3rd at Midpoint of Dowling Memorial

SHOREHAM, N.Y. – At the midpoint of the two-day Dowling Memorial golf tournament at the Tall Grass Golf Course, the Bentley University Falcons are tied for third in a field of 13. The tournament will conclude on Saturday.

Led by sophomore Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS), Bentley put up an opening-day 301 to share third with Franklin Pierce. Le Moyne College is at the top of the leaderboard after posting a 289 and Chestnut Hill College is second, two strokes in front of Bentley. Five other teams are within five strokes of the Falcons.

Meyers is tied for sixth overall after shooting a two-over 73. He'll begin second-round play four strokes back of co-leaders John Clare of Le Moyne and Matthew Baker of Chestnut Hill. Each finished the day two-under at 69.

Bentley senior Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) is a stroke back of his teammate and tied for 11th after an opening round 74.

Bentley also had three players turn in a 77: senior Zach Pollard (Lebanon, N.H./Lebanon HS) and freshmen Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./ Pittsford Sutherland HS).
