Bentley Finishes Day 1 of Season-Opening Le Moyne Fall Preview Tied for 4th

BALDWINVILLE, N.Y. – With senior co-captain Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/ Lincoln Academy) leading the way, the Bentley University golf team finished day one of the season-opening Le Moyne Fall Preview in a tie for fourth place. A total of 20 teams from around the east are participating in the two-day tournament at the Timber Banks Golf Club.

Bentley, with a score of 323, finished the opening round even with the host institution, both with a 323. Southern New Hampshire University, after posting a 327, will take a five-stroke advantage into Saturday's final round. Post University (320) and Mercyhurst University (321) are in between the Penmen and the Falcons.

Oliver, whose day included two birds, fired a five-over 77, putting him in a three-way tie for sixth and one stroke off the pace. Sharing individual honors after 18 are Mos Bangpetch (Concordia, N.Y.), Andrew Fedele (Roberts Wesleyan), Blaze Hogan (Mercyhurst), Jose Luiz Martinez (Post) and Joe Petrin (Le Moyne). All turned in a four-over 76.

Bentley's number two man was sophomore Brett Chatfield (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan HS). He stands in a tie for 20th after an 81. The Falcons also received an 82, good for a tie for 25th, from senior co-captain Tom Ayres (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS).
