Coulter & Brunone Earn Weekly Honors from Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior co-captain Quincy Coulter (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest HS)  has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Golfer of the Week, and his freshman teammate, Jimmy Brunone (Plymouth/Tabor Academy), has been selected as the NE-10 co-Rookie of the Week.

Both were cited for their performance in the Falcons' spring season opening tournament, the St. James Plantation Invitational at the Founders Club in Southport, N.C. Bentley captured its fourth tourney title of the season, finishing one stroke ahead of West Chester University and two in front of Indiana University (Pa.), the 31st-ranked team in Division II.

Coulter tied for third in the tournament, his first top ten effort of the year. He rebounded from an opening round 82 to shoot a career-best 72, the second lowest score of the second round, to finish at 82-72-154. His rain-soaked second-day performance included six birdies.

Brunone tied for eighth in the 13-team event, finishing with a 75-82-157. He sat atop the leaderboard at the midpoint with a three-stroke lead after posting a career-best 75 in 35 mile per hour winds as well as on extremely hard greens. Included were three birdies.

Coulter has a 78.9 stroke average for the season and Brunone, who played in only two fall tournaments, is at an even 80.0. His best 36-hole score, a 155, was achieved at the Franklin Pierce Invitational last September in his collegiate debut.

Coulter is the third Falcon to earn Player of the Week honors this year, joining Malcolm Oliver (Sept. 9, Oct. 28) and Brett Chatfield (Sept. 16). Brunone is also the third to receive Rookie of the Week honors, following Chatfield (Sept. 16) and Cal Meyers (Sept. 30, Oct. 28).

Bentley, already assured of competing in its fifth consecutive NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional (May 4-6 in Nashport, Ohio), returns to action with the California Vulcan Invitational Apr. 5-6 in California, Pa.
