Oliver the NE-10 Rookie of the Week for the 5th Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the third time this spring, and the fifth time since the start of October, Bentley University freshman Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) has been recognized as the Golf Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Oliver earned the latest honor with his best tournament performance as a collegian Sunday and Monday. Competing in the Mike Bello Invitational at the Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, N.Y., he fired consecutive one-over-par 73s to finish seven in a 92-player field at 146. His previous career-bests, achieved earlier this month, were 74 and 149.

A strong spring has lowered Oliver's stroke average to 77.1, second best on the team. He's shot better than that in seven of eight rounds so far during the spring season, averaging 75.6 during that span.

Senior captains Matt Michel (Danvers/Danvers HS) and Dan McQueen (Topsfield/ Masconomet Reg. HS) were also recognized, with selection to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll. Michel posted his second straight third-place finish, shooting a three-under and career-best 141 (69-72). McQueen finished in 12th place with a 72-77-149.

Bentley will close out its regular season Tuesday with the Worcester State Korzec Invitational at Blackstone National in Sutton, Mass.
