Bentley Places 3rd in Saint Rose Fall Shootout; Oliver Takes 5th Place

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – The Bentley University golf team finished third in a ten-team field at the Saint Rose Fall Shootout, which concluded Saturday at the Pinehaven Country Club. The Falcons, with a 36-hole score of 633, finished 16 strokes back of the team champion, Concordia College (N.Y.).

Bentley's number one golfer in the tournament was freshman Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy). He turned in a second-round 79 and finished fifth overall with a 154.

Senior Matt Michel (Danvers, Mass./Danvers HS) tied for eighth place with a 158 (78-80), and freshman Tommy Ayres (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) was one of three tied for 11th (83-76-159). His second-round five-over 76 was Bentley's best second-day round. A total of 53 golfers took part in the tournament.

Concordia had both the medalist and the runner-up with Sam Deitte besting teammate Eutimo Fernandez, 144-147. Deitte opened with a one-under 70, and Fernandez turned in a second-round 69.

Next  weekend, the Falcons will be in Putnam, Conn. for the AIC-Adelphi Intercollegiate Classic.
