Bentley 3rd of 11 Following Rainy Day 1 of Paramountain Invitational

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – With four of its five golfers surviving a driving rainstorm and very cold winds to shoot 76 or better, Bentley University turned in a 300 to finish day of the Joseph Palamountain Invitational tied for third among 11 teams. The tournament will conclude Sunday at the Saratoga Spa State Park.

Bentley trailed Salem State (297) and Skidmore (298) in the standings, and was even with Manhattanville College. St. Lawrence University rounded out the top five at 302.  Unlike Bentley, Salem State and Skidmore were able to get most of their play in before the rain.

Skidmore's John McCarthy fired a three-under 69 to take the day one lead by a single stroke over Salem State's Chris Berry and St. Lawrence's Jack Whelan.

Junior Dan McQueen (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Reg. HS) paced the Falcons with his one-over 73 good for a tie for fifth place.  Senior Richie Powers (Leominster, Mass./Leominster HS) will begin the second day tied for ninth with a 75, and both senior Nick Clarke (Plymouth/Cape Cod Academy) and freshman Quincy Coulter (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest HS) are among those tied for 13th following a 76.
