Clarke at Top of Leaderboard at Midpoint of AIC Yellow Jacket Classic

LUDLOW, Mass. – Following the first round of the two-day American International Yellow Jacket Classic, Bentley University senior Nick Clarke (Plymouth/Cape Cod Academy) has a share of the individual lead after firing a two-under 70 Monday at the Ludlow Country Club.

Clarke's best round as a collegian saw him shoot a 36 over the front nine and a two-under 34 on the back side. He'll enter Tuesday's final round even with Brian Allmendinger of Pace University at the top of the leaderboard.

Six teams are competing in the tournament and four are within four strokes of each other at the midpoint. AIC, UMass-Lowell and Pace all finished Monday's action at 302, and Bentley was close behind at 306.

All five Bentley players shot in the 70s, with Clarke followed by senior Richie Powers (Leominster/Leominster HS) with a 78 (37-41). Sophomore Harry Kirkpatrick (Lancaster/Nashoba Reg. HS), senior Grant Alter (Rancho Sante Fe, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) and junior Francesco Possio (Torino, Italy) each turned in a 79 for the Falcons.
