Laput Receives All-America Honors from both NABC and D2CCA
WALTHAM, Mass. – The honors continue for Bentley University senior guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS) as the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year was selected for the 2024 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II All-America team. He's just the third Falcon to twice receive NABC All-America honors, following Brian Hammel '75 and Jason Westrol '10.
Laput was also selected for the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-America third team. In addition, he was tabbed for the NABC Division II All-East Region team.
Laput, who helped Bentley to a 19-11 season, had his second consecutive 600-point season and was the first Falcons ever to average at least 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He shot 45 percent overall, made 40 percent of his three-pointers and connected at an 88 percent success rate from the foul line.
Laput's season included 18 games with 20 points or more, including a trio of 30-point games. He scored 32 in a 78-75 win against Saint Anselm Nov. 29, tallied a career-high 35 in a 111-64 rout of Franklin Pierce Jan. 13 and netted 30 in a 72-66 win at Southern Connecticut State three days later. There were a half-dozen double-doubles and 14 games with at least five assists.
Laput, a starter in his last 84 games, climbed to tenth on Bentley's all-time scoring list and finished the season with 1,655 career points. His 1,125 minutes played this season were the fourth most in program history and he's one of only four Falcons to have multiple 600-point seasons (Ryan Richmond, Bill Holden and Westrol).
In addition to 1,655 points, Laput has amassed 626 rebounds, 287 assists and 154 three-points in 90 career games. During that span, the Falcons put together a 67-23 record.
