Laput Repeats as NE10 Player of the Year; McClure Earns All-Conference Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS) has been named the Men's Basketball Player of the Year in the Northeast-10 Conference for the second consecutive year. He's the eighth repeat honoree in the conference's  43-year history.

Laput, who was recognized as an NABC Division II All-America last season, also earned his second straight first-team All-Conference nod. He's the first Falcon to make consecutive appearances on the first team since Ryan Richmond (2018, 2019).

Also recognized by the conference with selection to the All-NE10 third-team was sophomore guard Cash McClure (Readfield, Maine/Maranacook HS).

Laput, who has climbed to tenth on Bentley's all-time scoring list with 1,655 points after beginning the season at number 49, is the only player in the NCAA Division II East Region averaging at least 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He's also the first Falcon to ever post a 20-7-4 season.

Laput, second in the NE10 with a 20.0 scoring average, also ranks fifth in the conference in assists, sixth in steals and eighth in rebounds. He has a shooting line of .453/.399/.883 and has six double-doubles.

Laput, whose three 30-point games include a career-high 35 against Franklin Pierce, was previously named to the Top 15 Watch List for the Trevor Hudgins Award and the Top 50 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award.

The six-three McClure is the fourth leading rebounder in the conference, averaging 7.5 a game. In addition, he produces 14 points and nearly three assists a game while shooting .503 overall, .407 from three and .886 at the free throw line. He's the only player in the conference shooting at least .500 overall, .400 from deep and .880 at the line with his accuracy from the stripe second best in the NE10.

Laput and McClure have helped the Falcons to a 19-11 record this season.
