Leritz Selected as NE10 Player of the Week for the 2nd Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University graduate forward Matt Leritz (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University HS) has been named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference for the second time this month. He was previously recognized with the award on January 9.

In a 2-0 week, Leritz averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 68 percent overall and making three of five three-pointers.

On Wednesday, in a battle for first in the conference, Leritz had 19 points and six rebounds in a 77-71 victory over Saint Anselm. Leritz followed that effort with 20 points, on 8-of-11 shooting, and five boards in a road win against Southern Connecticut State Saturday.

Leritz, who is second in the Northeast-10 in field goal percentage, three-point accuracy and rebounds, is averaging 15.3 points and 9.1 rebounds while shooting 62 percent overall and 49 percent from deep. He's had five 20-point games and six double-doubles in his first Bentley season after transferring from Illinois Wesleyan where he was a Division III All-America and the 2022 Division III Academic All-America of the Year.

As a collegian, Leritz has 1,300 points, 766 rebounds and a .577 field goal percentage in 105 career games.

Bentley, 17-2 overall, leads the Northeast-10 and is ranked 14th in the NABC Division II coaches poll. The next game for the Falcons is at home Wednesday against Southern New Hampshire.
