11-2 Bentley Men’s Basketball Looks to Stay Hot Wednesday at Saint Rose

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's basketball will be looking for its sixth straight win and 10th in its last 11 games Wednesday night when it travels out I-90 to take on The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. Game time at the Nolan Gymnasium is 7:30 pm, and fans can watch on the NE10 NOW Digital Network. No spectators from visiting teams will be admitted.

Bentley, which leads the NCAA Division II East Region in overall winning percentage (11-2), moved up to 23rd in this week's NABC Division II coaches poll. The Falcons lead the Northeast-10 Northeast Division in wins (6-2) and are second to Franklin Pierce (4-1) in conference winning percentage.

Coach Jay Lawson's team will be taking on a Saint Rose team that is 6-5 overall and 3-3 conference, good for a tie for fourth in the NE10 Southwest Division. The Golden Knights are coming off an 86-75 win over St. Michael's after dropping five of their previous six games.

Bentley had five double-figure scorers in both games last week, wins over New Haven (80-78) and Pace (85-73). The Falcons had to battle from behind in each, overcoming an 18-point deficit against the Chargers and climbing out of a 12-point hol in the Pace game.

Four Falcons are averaging at least 15 points, including graduate guard Colton Lawrence (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO HS), who recently returned to action after missing eight games. 61 percent shooting has helped him build a 17.8 scoring average and he's also averaging 4.6 rebounds.

Senior guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) follows at 16.5 points, his high point of the season, after scoring 23 points in two of three games this month.  Sophomore guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS) put up a career-high 25 points against Pace, elevating his average to 15.8 points.

Graduate guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy), who recently cracked Bentley's 1,000-point list, leads the NE10 in assists (6.3), is third in rebounding (8.5) and owns a 15.2 scoring average.

Graduate forward Pete Blust (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale HS), the number two shot blocker in the conference, has made 22 of 29 field goal attempts in the last five games to elevate his season mark to .656.

Saint Rose features the Northeast-10's second-leading scorer in six-foot-six freshman Shane O'Dell. He averages 20.5 points, as well as 7.5 rebounds, and is coming off a career-best 36 points in last week's win at St. Michael's, the Golden Knight's first contest since Dec. 18. Not surprisingly, he was cited as the NE10 Rookie of the Week.

Senior guard Adam Anderson is also an offensive threat for Saint Rose. He is averaging 11.5 points this season and just surpassed the 1,200 milestone for his career.

These are two of the top scoring teams in the NE10 with Bentley topping the list at 85.9 points and Saint Rose fourth at 79.7.

Bentley has won four of its last five against the Golden Knights, including 97-74 Jan. 22, 2020 in the most recent meeting.

This week's schedule also has the Falcons hosting American International Saturday.
