16-5 Bentley Returns to Dana Center Saturday To Face Adelphi in Final Crossover Game

WALTHAM, Mass. – After splitting its first six games against the Southwest Division, the Bentley University men's basketball team will be back in the Dana Center on Saturday, looking to build on its 10-0 home record. Adelphi University will provide the opposition for the final crossover game of the season with tip-off scheduled for 3:30 pm.

Fans who can't make it to campus for the contest can watch on the NE10 NOW digital network.

Bentley returns home after two tightly contested road games, a 73-66 win at American International and an 81-78 loss at Le Moyne College. There were 25 lead changes, including 19 against the Dolphins, and 13 ties in the two games which rarely saw the teams separated by more than six.

The loss to Le Moyne dropped Bentley (16-5, 8-4 NE10) into a tie for the top spot in the NE10 Northeast Division with Stonehill, with both Franklin Pierce and Saint Anselm a game back.

Adelphi will come into the Dana tied for second in the Southwest, four games back of Le Moyne. The Panthers (14-7, 7-5 NE10) have lost two in a row and four of their last five, all by at least 16 points, after starting the season 12-3. Most recently, they fell to St. Michael's 79-63 after leading by nine at the half.

Bentley senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School) turned in his ninth 20-point game of the season at Le Moyne, finishing with 25 points on 11 of 19 shooting. It was the 18th time in 21 games this season he's shot least 50 percent from the field.

Hudson, eighth in the conference in scoring (18.0) and the same in rebounding (7.9), also had five steals against Le Moyne, the most by a Falcon this season.

Hudson is followed on the Bentley scoring list by sophomore guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) and junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy), with averages of 16.2 and 12.3, respectively.

Both have had impressive shooting seasons with Webb connecting at a 51 percent overall with 53 three-pointers and Mello-Klein following at 49 percent overall and 47 percent from three. Mello-Klein's career .445 mark from three is second in program history, trailing only Jim Ferrer's .452 from 1987-89.

Sophomore guard Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School) has made 12 of 21 shots over the last three games and is averaging 9.8 points.

Coach Jay Lawson has seen one of his non-starters scorer in doubles in each of the last three games. Sophomore forward Adria Amabalino Perez (Barcelona, Spain) had a career-high 15 points at Le Moyne and freshman forward Isaac Martin (Peachtree Gardens, Ga./Norcross HS) recently had 10 against Saint Rose and 12 against AIC.

Adelphi features five-nine sophomore Ronnie Silva, the highest scoring guard in the conference and the number three scorer overall. He's made 73 three-pointers, 15 more than any other NE10 player, and is scoring 20.7 points per game. Last year's NE10 Rookie of the Year has three 30-point games this season.

Four other Panthers are also scoring in doubles, including junior Spencer Foley at 13.6. He's shooting 41 percent from three with 49 three-pointers.

Coach Dave Duke's team relies heavily on the three-ball, making nearly 13 a game. Fifty-four percent of Adelphi's shots come from beyond the arc and 49 percent of their points are as a result of threes.

Bentley is fifth in the conference in scoring (80.7), second in team defense (69.8) and first in both scoring margin (10.9) and rebound margin (6.9). Adelphi, which is seventh in scoring (78.4) and eighth in scoring defense (75.6), is last in rebound margin (-4.9).

The home team has won the last five games in the series, including Adelphi last year by a count of 92-82. In that one, Silva scored 20 points for a Panther team that shot 59 percent and Hudson had 19 for the Falcons.

Northeast Division play resumes next week with Bentley on the road Wednesday at Stonehill College.
